Modern weepie which traces the ups and downs of unlikely friends C.C. (Bette Midler), a brash singer, and Hillary (Barbara Hershey), a conservative rich girl. Meeting as children on a beach in Atlantic City, the two swear lifelong friendship, but don’t meet up again until they are in their twenties. C.C. becomes a star, Hillary a lawyer, and they grow apart – but when Hillary contracts a fatal virus, C.C. rushes to her side’
